Sarah Fagan moved to Austin in 2017 to attend the graduate MFA program at the University of Texas at Austin. Since graduation in 2019, she has continued to live and work in the city as an artist and adjunct professor at St. Edward’s University. Prior to her Texas days, Sarah received a BA in English, Art History, and Studio Arts from Stonehill College in North Easton, MA and a post-baccalaureate certificate in bookmaking from the Oregon College of Art and Craft in Portland, OR. While living in Portland, Sarah was a member/owner of the cooperative Blackfish Gallery from 2013-2016. Sarah has attended several artist residencies in the U.S. and Canada — most recently the Desert Door residency through Austin’s Big Medium in 2021. Primarily a painter, Sarah is interested in looking closer at the everyday. Her favorite subjects and areas of study include quotidian objects, repeated routines, and human interactions with the natural environment.
